Day 15 – He is Always with Us

That same day two of Jesus’ followers were walking to the village of Emmaus, seven miles from Jerusalem. As they walked along they were talking about everything that had happened. As they talked and discussed these things, Jesus himself suddenly came and began walking with them. But God kept them from recognizing him. Then Jesus took them through the writings of Moses and all the prophets, explaining from all the Scriptures the things concerning himself. By this time they were nearing Emmaus and the end of their journey. Jesus acted as if he were going on, but they begged him, “Stay the night with us, since it is getting late.” So he went home with them. As they sat down to eat, he took the bread and blessed it. Then he broke it and gave it to them. Suddenly, their eyes were opened, and they recognized him. And at that moment he disappeared! They said to each other, “Didn’t our hearts burn within us as he talked with us on the road and explained the Scriptures to us?” Luke 24:13-16, 27-32

Prayer Pointers:

1. Are there times when you are so busy with life that you become unaware of God’s presence? Ask for forgiveness for being insensitive to His presence in your daily life.
2. Thank God for being with you through your past and present seasons.
3. Commit to one habit that helps you cultivate an awareness of His presence daily (e.g. reading the bible, worshipping Him before going to work, begin the day with thanksgiving).

Prayer:

Dear Lord, open the eyes of my heart to see and know You personally, as my king, savior and Friend who walks alongside me. Help me to be aware of Your presence, and the ways that You are speaking and working in my life. Thank You for being a personal God who draws near to me. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
