Online classes for Life in the Word (LIW), School for Christian Growth (SCG) and Family Life Seminars for the 2nd Quarter have commenced.

Classes run at 9am and 2pm on Sundays beginning 3 April.

Registration for the 2nd Quarter is now closed.

Life of Christ

This course seeks to provide students with knowledge of the life and earthly ministry of our Lord Jesus Christ. The student will gain an understanding of the times and settings of the world that Jesus lived and ministered in as described in the four Gospels. The highlight of the course is a detailed study of the Lord’s ministry from its early days to the final climax of His arrest, trial, sufferings and crucifixion in Jerusalem. Other important aspects of the course include a study of the central message and mission of the Lord, His teachings and the miracles that accompanied and confirmed what He preached and taught.

Principles of Love

The Bible declares that God is love and we, as His children, must exhibit the same nature of love both individually and corporately as His Church. This course seeks to impart the knowledge of the principles of love as taught in the Word of God. We will study extensively from selected Bible characters how they demonstrated these principles in and through the challenging circumstances of their lives. Our prime example, and the One who personified love in all its different dimensions, is the Lord Jesus. The last part of this course seeks to help students understand and apply the principles of love in their commitment to a spirit of unity with all members in the Body of Christ.

Communication

This course is designed for those who wish to learn the rudiments of communication, not only in theory but also in practice. It covers the principles and practices of communication and blends skills with principles. The objective of this course is to help students be more effective in their ability to communicate especially in relating with fellow believers and in sharing the Gospel.

The course will cover topics such as:
• How to speak clearly, concisely, and convincingly
• How to hear what is said and not said
• How to use body language to achieve maximum results
• How to identify communication barriers and to minimise them

Faith and the Supernatural

Based on the Book of Acts, the student will be introduced to the work of the Holy Spirit in empowering the apostles and believers in the Early Church to fulfil Christ’s Great Commission. We will see how their faith resulted in supernatural signs and wonders enabling them to overcome internal difficulties and external persecution, so that the proclaiming of the Gospel “to the ends of the earth” could go on unhindered. The lives and ministries of Peter, Stephen (the first Christian martyr), Paul and others will be used to illustrate our study on this subject. With this background, the student will receive a proper context to exercise faith and the supernatural in our present times.

Gifts of the Holy Spirit (YouTube)

Paul’s admonition to the Corinthian Christians when he said “Now about spiritual gifts, brothers, I do not want you to be ignorant” also applies to us. There is no reason why we should go through our Christian life not understanding the gifts of the Holy Spirit. In this course, a balanced Biblical perspective of the “charismata” – the powerful yet gracious gifts of the Holy Spirit – will be presented.
The following will be covered:
• What the gifts of the Holy Spirit are
• How each gift operates in the church
• Why the gifts are so important and relevant to us today

Asian Religions (Youtube)

Knowledge of the religious world-view of our non-Christian friends and neighbours is essential if we want to win them to Christ. This course will equip you with an understanding of religion, its origins and its expressions through some of the major religions of the world. We will focus our studies on a comparative study of the major Asian religions – Hinduism, Buddhism and Islam – with biblical Christianity. The belief systems and the practices of these religions will be studied together with how they compare with measure up to what the Bible teaches. Two case studies will be presented to help students be aware of cultural and religious sensitivities that may cause roadblocks to the effective sharing of the Gospel.

Practics of Counselling (Youtube)

“Practics of Counselling” builds on the previous courses on “Principles of Counselling” and “Process of Counselling.” More specifically, it will equip the counsellor to deal with the lack of spiritual assurance as well as the struggle with sin which all Christians face. It will empower the counsellor to deal with negative emotions such as anxiety, fear, failure and discouragement. Challenging situations such as persecution, sickness, death and suicide will be covered. Marital counselling and its related aspects such as divorce counselling will also be dealt with in this course. This course is a must for anyone who desires to help individuals and families with the practical problems and issues they face.

Johannine Literature (Youtube)

This course provides an overview of the writings of John, thus the term, “Johannine Literature.” In both the Gospel of John and his letters, John’s writings are characterised by his vivid descriptions of the humanity and divinity of Jesus. While the Gospel of John deals with the doctrine of Jesus Christ as the Son of God, the letters of John (1, 2 and 3 John) are intensely pastoral and practical. John writes them as an eyewitness and also as one who actually heard, touched, interacted with and received “the Word of Life” into his own life.

The pastoral application then follows: if a person has had the same experience of being touched by the “Word of Life”, he should “walk in the light as He is in the light”. If we have this life, we will relate with others based on the love of God that is part of His kind of life. Thus, in our walk and in our relationships with one another, we have both the test and the assurance of our identity as true sons of God.

Genesis (Youtube)

This study of the first book of the Bible is intended to lay a firm foundation for the believer’s knowledge of the rest of the Old and New Testament. The purpose, theme and structure of the book is summarised in a simple outline which divides it into two main sections:
• primeval history dealing with Creation, the Fall and the Flood;
• dispersion to the nations; and
• patriarchal history dealing with Abraham, Isaac, Jacob and Joseph

The course takes the student through Genesis chapter by chapter. The provisions of sacrifice as atonement for sin and God’s covenant with mankind through Abraham are discovered within the events and personalities in the book.

Pastoral Epistles (Youtube)

First and Second Timothy and Titus are known as the “Pastoral Epistles” or “Pastoral Letters”. They were written by the Apostle Paul to Timothy and Titus, his sons in the faith, on the occasions of them being sent to oversee the churches in Ephesus and Crete respectively. Paul’s charge to Titus was to “set in order the things that are lacking” for the churches in Crete. His instructions to Timothy point to a similar exhortation for him to do likewise for the church in Ephesus.

In these letters, Paul provided criteria for the proper selection of overseers and deacons to help minister and lead the local church. Teaching is given to ensure overseers and leaders focus on a right personal walk with God, relate rightly with the members of the congregation and know what to focus on in their pastoral ministry.

1 Thessalonians (Youtube)

The theme of 1 Thessalonians is how to live our lives in a way that reflects our hope in Christ’s return. This letter reveals how Paul’s anticipation of Christ’s return motivated and compelled him to preach the Gospel throughout the Roman Empire. In this study, you will learn how to align your life with God’s Word and how to pray for spiritual development in the areas of courage, sincerity, truthfulness, selflessness and the fear of God.

Life of Moses (Youtube)

In this course, you will learn core principles of spiritual leadership exemplified in the life of Moses. In learning how God calls, prepares, trains and equips a man so that he ultimately becomes a “mighty man of valour”, you will discover the various tests that a leader must go through. When you complete the course, you will find the “secrets to passing the tests of leadership”.

God’s Wisdom for Uncertain Times (SCG)

Whilst distress, panic and despair are common human reactions in times of uncertainty, we, as God’s children, don’t need to follow suit. God’s wisdom can defeat anxiety and restore our emotional and physical health. Moreover, it can certainly be the source of unfailing stability and strength for us in these trying times and propel us into the victory of God.

Foundations For A Godly Marriage (2pm only)

This course is designed for young adults, singles and couples contemplating marriage. It is natural follow on for those who have completed the ‘Christian Courtship’ class. For those considering marriage it is a necessary pre-requisite before they undergo one-on-one Pre-Marital Counselling. This course forms the teaching component of marriage preparation including the meaning of marriage, communication and conflict resolution skills, intimacy and much more.
